Petrogel is a solvent-based wax release agent, which has been specially formulated to provide release from a wide range of moulds and moulding materials.
Applications
Petrogel provides a high quality and reliable release from moulds made from metal, epoxy, polyurethane, GRP (polyester) vacuum-formed plastics, silicones, wood, plaster and MDF. On porous surfaces it acts as a surface sealer; it works well due to its unusually high solids concentration.
Textured finishes may be reproduced by stippling or flaming the dried film. Gloss finishes may be produced by lightly buffing the dried film.
Physical Properties
- Colour Cloudy white
- Solids 20%
- Viscosity (cps) 3.5
- Typical drying time 4-6 minutes
Method of application
Stir well both before and during use. If the temperature is very low it may be best to warm slightly.
Apply by brush, spray or cloth wipe. For spraying it is best to use the Petrogel warm (e.g.. 30°C)
Apply thin films and allow to dry. Repeat if necessary. Thick films are not recommended as they take a long time to dry.
If necessary to achieve very thin films, thin with White Spirit.
When used as a mould sealant, we recommend at least two coats. Test a small area to check release if possible.
Handling and storage
This product is flammable. Store in a cool dry environment at room temperature. Handle with care and use suitable gloves to prevent, particularly, long-term skin contact.
Health & Safety
Refer to the Petrogel MSDS before use and make certain that the operation is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the document.
