Information

High strength silicone mould making rubber. Our silicone has been formulated for easy mixing by hand, with colour coded components (red or green) giving a visual aid to ensure mixing is adequate. The two components mix easily and because of the low viscosity most grades can be used without processing in a vacuum chamber. This silicone is suited for the detailed reproduction of figures, art objects and similar items.

Features :
Outstanding Release Properties
Medium Hardness
High Tear Resistance
High elasticity for easy removal of complex replica parts
Can be made thixotropic (non flowable) for vertical surface replication

  • Red catalyst is by far the most popular catalyst to use with the GP-3481-F silicone, it gives great air release with longer working and demould times.
  • Clear catalyst is used when pigments are required, when mixing pigments into a white silicone base it can result in lighter shades of the colour intended. e.g. black pigment will become grey / dark grey.
  • Green catalyst is used when time is off importance, it will cure a lot quicker roughly in half the time, but this will not give as good of air release as the red fast set catalyst.

NOTE - When using clear catalyst, best to double mix the silicone and catalyst because it is very hard to see if the catalyst has fully mixed through, so a double mix is advised.

Very Easy to Use and Performed Flawlessly

First time I tried GP3481-F (Red Catalyst) and it did not disappoint. I have used the twice more expensive well known brand from the US, but this silicone is miles better. It arrived from MBFG very quickly and the service from MBFG was excellent. I now have a new supplier and will be using this company from now on. Great service, Great product. What's not to like? Thanks guys...

Perfect for making moulds of ceiling details

This is the real deal. I'm a novice, and have been using it to create moulds of ornate Victorian papier mache cornice and other ceiling details to replace damp-damaged areas. I've just completed one large cornice section that's over a metre long. I don't have a vacuum chamber, so I followed MBFG's advice of painting the first layer on, then pouring the rest into the mould box. I can't believe how well the moulds have turned out - no bubbles at all, and no reaction with the various paints on the original cornice - unlike latex, which reacted badly to some gold paint. I was able to take a good section of the original cornice from the ceiling and build a mould box on the bench, but I understand that there's a thickener additive available that would allow you to do it in situ.

The container has some excellent instructions on it, but MBFB also has some great documents and videos - I'd recommend studying them first - but if you follow the directions carefully, you'll get excellent results like mine. I'd also recommend looking at some of the ancillaries - the plastic stirring sticks and breakout bowls were particularly useful.

I had a go at mouldy making for the first time with this kit. It was very easy to use and really pleased to find out the harder and silicon were packaged in the correct weights for mixing. I also found, when I made a call to the company, a very helpful chap on the line, he gave some solid advice and some hints and tips. Great service, great product.👍👌

Excellent Product

This is now my 'go to' silicone, the potlife with the red catalyst gives me plenty of time to set it up and pour my molds. The 27 shore ensures a good medium hardness that is strong enough for most projects and forgiving enough to allow easy removal of the pattern part. Highly recommended.

My project would've been sunk without this product. Took a little trial and error as I needed to make a mould of part of a cornice on the ceiling but once I got the technique right the mould was spot on. Very versatile, simple 10:1 ratio makes it easy to mix and sets well.

I think the best silicone mould making rubber I had. Fast curing, very strong and ideal for brush on moulds when mixed with thixo. Wont change for any other silicone. Highly recommended.
